The success of an applicant on his job searching endeavors depends on the quality of his resume. Since most companies would ask for a resume first before interviewing an aspirant, it is good to create an impressive one. Achievements or accomplishments of an applicant need not to be preposterous. The key to having a striking resume is to be able to organize credentials and present each information with great clarity.
Most effective resume contains job objectives. Objectives are included in the resume to let employers know of an applicant’s intent. Normally, job objective is placed at the upper portion of the resume. Usually it follows name and contact information of an applicant. It is advised to keep objective as general as possible, not mentioning a particular job position to avoid being typecast.
In the lists that follow are resume objective samples:
1. An entry-level position in the communication industry.
This type of resume objective sample does not specify a concrete job position. This is to allow the employer to decide on a job that most likely fits to an applicants qualifications.
2. To pursue a career in the theater or a related area, this enables me to utilize my creative talent and experience.
This resume objective sample may appear to specify a particular job position. Probing further, although the objectives mentioned a certain field, the applicant still gives the employer a choice as to where he wants to designate the aspirant.
3. To contribute acquired culinary skills to a restaurant position.
The approach of this resume objective sample is to obtain a specific position in a company. This kind of objective is advisable for people who have a specialized skill such as cooking or as a stylist.
4. To obtain a challenging position in the field of Gerontology which would enable me to utilize my writing and analytical skills.
For this type of objective, the applicant chooses to provide a proactive approach. This may be a plus factor for the applicant since it shows that he is willing to do everything for the company.
5. To participate in various musical settings as a drummer / vocalist, and to perform and record my original material.
This is another example of an objective that has a specific intent.
Even if an objective provides a bird’s eye view of an applicant’s intent, some hopefuls choose not to include a career purpose. This is because some employers tend to rely on the objective when reviewing a resume. If this happens, efforts exerted in creating the resume will be put to waste.
If an applicant would still want to include an objective, remember to keep the tone transparent. As much as possible, avoid mentioning a specific intent unless if the applicant has a specialized skill or talent that he wants to pursue.
